This Elementary School creates a good working environment where foreign teachers have almost always requested to renew their contracts. The Principal, Mr. Lee, is a very honest and sincere man, who is genuinely concerned with the welfare of his foreign teachers.
The school is in its fifth year of running an English Immersion Program (bilingual education). You will be co-teaching a primary grade class with a Korean teacher with the children's ages ranging from 6-12 years old.
The program includes teaching Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts in English to Korean children. They use a variety of American textbooks along with the required Korean books. Many of our students hold foreign passports, have lived overseas, spent significant portions of their lives outside of Korea, or are planning to in the near future. This summer we had two groups of students take field trips to the Philippines and Australia. There are currently 9 foreign teachers.
It is located in the southern part of Daejeon, Korea.
Daejeon is the sixth largest city in Korea and is located one hour south of Seoul and 2 hours North West of Busan by the KTX train. Since it is a large city with a foreign population of about 1,500, most foreigners find that they have everything they need.
